Scott grew up on a farm in central Victoria in Australia where the close proximity to the Victorian Alps gave him plenty of opportunity to get out skiing, kayaking and rock climbing. A fascination with the outdoors and maps led him into a career in Geographic Information Systems. While studying for a degree in cartography he started mountaineering and has climbed in New Zealand, Europe, Nepal and India. While he has also indulged in a spot of dragon boat racing and kite surfing, his current obsession is enduro-mountain biking racing.
Ross has been a keen rock climber, mountaineer and back country skier for the last 20 years. He has spent 4 summer seasons climbing in New Zealand's Southern Alps. An ascent of the classic SW ridge of Mt Aspiring in perfect early December conditions, with his father stands out as a highlight of his out door career. Other trips have been to the European Alps and mountain ranges in northern India and SE Asia, including an (unsuccessful) attempt on 6700m Mulkila 4 in the Himachal Pradesh in the early 1990's. Ross works as a geologist for the Victorian Government.
